Visual Arts Comprehensive AVI1OI

COURSE DESCRIPTION This course is exploratory in nature, offering an overview of visual arts as a foundation for further study. Students will become familiar with the elements and principles of design and the expressive qualities of various materials by using a range of media, processes, techniques, and styles. Students will use the creative and critical analysis processes and will interpret art within a personal, contemporary, and historical context.

Students will look at how history affects art, develop skills, learn about the creative process, create artworks, and learn how to critique artwork in a positive and reflective manor.  Art challenges student’s to think in creative ways and explore a crucial part of their minds often not provoked in other areas.

In the past students have created portraits, coil clay vases, watercolour landscapes, comic book pages, surrealistic collages, painted mandalas, clay relief tiles, and many more! Art History is geared towards the projects chosen.  Come explore!
