Grade 11 and 12 GRCI students who were previously eligible to take the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test have been speaking with Guidance Counsellors to ensure they have communicated their plans to complete the Literacy Requirement for graduation.  As noted in a previous post, this could be by writing the test a second time or taking the Literacy Course (OLC) either this year or next year.  Those who have elected to take the test again will be invited – via their WRDSB email – to write it in the cafeteria at GRCI on Wednesday, November 22nd.  The test has 2 parts: Session A will be written in the morning (8:30 am start) and Session B will be written in the afternoon (12:00 pm start).

Students can prepare themselves for the test by doing one (or a combination) of three things:

  1. Complete the Practice Test online on the EQAO’s website.
  2. Review the Literacy Test Prep/Skill Review slideshow, which includes a review of the test features as well as review of the many key skills the test assesses.
  3. Go onto the WRDSB’s elearning platform and access the D2L OSSLT preparatory course posted there.

Grade 10 students and some previously eligible students will be writing the OSSLT in the Spring, with a date to be determined soon.

Students or caregivers who have any questions regarding the test and its administration at GRCI may reach out Dollie Butticci, Vice-Principal, for more information.
