As a result of a sewer blockage, Grand River Collegiate Institute (GRCI) will remain closed on:
- Thursday, December 21, 2023
- Friday, December 22, 2023
This closure also impacts Rosemount at GRCI. Rental and on-site extracurricular activities will be cancelled for both days.
Facility Services and contractors have been working as quickly as possible to address the situation. The complexity of the work requires the school to be closed to students and staff for the rest of the week. Their work impacts the main sewer line to the school, requiring them to access lines buried beneath the school.
Staff will continue to evaluate the situation and will provide updates as they become available. We are working to resolve the situation so that we are able to welcome students back to school on Monday, January 8.
Student learning will continue through asynchronous learning resources from their virtual learning environment, where applicable. Students may also work on previously-assigned work or spend time reviewing material previously covered. Students are invited to participate as they are able.
