October 30th, 2020
To our graduating class of 2020 and their families,
We want to provide you with an update on our Commencement celebrations following last week’s announcement.
Graduation Package Pick-Up
In addition to our “Grad Night” on Friday, November 27 at 7pm, featuring our virtual Commencement ceremony, complete with our school colours and familiar faces, we will also be arranging a Graduation Package Pick-Up opportunity the week of November 23 to 27, 2020.
The Graduation Package Pick-Up is a time for graduates, or a designate, to individually pick up their diploma, any awards they have received, a Commencement ceremony program, and, if purchased, a Graduation Souvenir Package, which includes a gown, cap, tassel and year charm in our school colours. This Souvenir Package ($17.00) is available now on School-Day under your Products Tab. Click here for instructions on how to register for School Day if you are no longer a student at GRCI: How to register for School-Day (outside school community)
Pick-up details will be released at a later date. Stay tuned for that information on our school website and social media channels.
Grads interested in participating in any of our school’s Commencement activities must fill out our registration form by Thursday, October 29, 2020 by 4pm.
The information requested in this form will help us communicate the details of when to pick up your Graduation Package. We will also send you the login information for our virtual Commencement ceremony. We encourage you to share the ceremony information with your family and friends so they can celebrate your achievement with you!
Since many of our graduates are now 18 years of age or older, we also need to verify how to communicate Commencement updates with you.
Step 2 – Register for School-Day
Step 2 is only necessary if a grad has indicated on their registration form that they are over the age of 18 and do not consent to have their parent/caregiver receive Commencement information through School-Day.
We want to reiterate that this is not how we anticipated celebrating our graduating class of 2020. However, we must follow the current COVID-19 government and public health restrictions on social gatherings, which does not make an in-person celebration possible. A virtual Commencement allows everyone, equitably, to attend and celebrate our graduates’ special day. A virtual Commencement ceremony eliminates health concerns, travel barriers and allows more family and friends to participate without the extra cost or risk.
Keeping students and families safe is our top priority and our planned virtual Commencement is our way to show our graduates and families that we can still celebrate this wonderful milestone together.
Thank you to all of our graduates for your resiliency during this time. Your hard work and commitment to earning your diploma does not go unnoticed.
