Hello GRCI Families,

It’s that time in the school year, Semester 1 is drawing to a close. The WRDSB Exam and Evaluation schedule for the end of Semester 1 will occur from January 29th to January 31st (secondary school year calendar). Teachers have the flexibility to provide a variety of methods for students to demonstrate their growth, and confirm their learning. Classroom teachers will clearly communicate with their students and their families what the learning expectations are on these days.

There are a few important things to note during this Exam and Evaluation schedule:

  • Severe Weather: during Exams & Evaluation days check STSWR for cancellations, and our site or School Day for schedule updates.
  • If any WRDSB buses are cancelled (even if schools are open) during an Exam & Evaluation day, then all secondary schools in the WRDSB will postpone the Exam & Evaluation schedule by one day. The remaining Exam and Evaluation schedule will all shift by one day (skipping over the PD day on February 1st) and the start of Semester 2 will shift by one day as well.
  • Busing: school buses run on their regular schedule during these three days.
  • Study Areas: the library will be open for those who wish to engage in quiet study. The cafeteria seating area will also be open for those who need to work collaboratively together.
  • Credit Rescue: any students (of any grade) may be required by their teacher to attend during their scheduled time to finish incomplete evaluations/assessments even if they do not have a class exam or evaluation scheduled.
  • Exams: will only be administered in select grade 11 and 12 courses (course codes noted on the schedule). All exams will be 75 minutes in length. Students will have up to double time (150 minutes) to complete exams.
  • Final Evaluations: for all grades may include performance based tasks, portfolios, demonstrations, projects, exit interviews, conferences, and exams.
  • ACE Students: will attend school with regular programming.

After exams and evaluations please note that:

  • Thursday, February 1, 2024 is a PD Day, the school will be closed to all students.
  • Friday, February 2, 2024 is the first day of Semester 2 classes.
