Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test, Spring 2023
The Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) will be written at GRCI on Tuesday, April 4th and Wednesday, April 5th, from 8:15am to 10:45am each day. Students received a notice in their homerooms this week that provided details about the test as well as where they are writing.
In addition, the following actions have been taken to help notify students about and prepare them for the test:
-a notice about the dates – as well as a slideshow of information and preparatory materials – were provided to Google Classrooms school-wide in mid-February
-students were enrolled in a Brightspace/D2L course to prepare them for the test, which went live March 20th
-Grade 10 students are completing preparatory materials from each of these sources in their C and D classes
-the slideshow and D2L materials remain available for students to access at home to prepare for the test, should they wish to do so
Classes not writing the OSSLT will continue as usual. Those students who are NOT writing the test are still expected to attend school and classes on those days. They are also asked to respect the needs of those writing by remaining quiet in the hallways.
Students who expect to be done quickly should bring work from their other classes to work on quietly while their classmates finish the test.
