Instructional Support Days Expectations/Schedule

Tuesday, April 19th and Wednesday, April 20th

We will once again be utilizing Instructional Support Days for Semester 2.    These days are an opportunity for students and teachers to provide time and space to focus on a variety of assessment and evaluation methods that will aid students in consolidating learning and working towards demonstration of the overall expectations.

SEMESTER 2 Tues. April 19 Wed. April 20
Morning Block Period 1 Period 1
Period 2 Period 2
Afternoon Block Period 3 Period 3
Period 4 Period 4

Classroom teachers work with their students on assignment completion, and/or offer additional opportunities for students to demonstrate a skill or overall curriculum expectation that has been missed or requires further demonstration/help with.

Examples of Targeted support

  • Synchronous 1:1 or small group support for students who would benefit from additional time/instruction on foundational skills/concepts to set them up for success over the remainder of the semester (meet / phone call).  Asynchronous mark opportunities or work completion opportunities, allowing targeted students to re-do, re-write, or revise work, or submit missing work.

Student Attendance:

  • On the instructional support days, the vast majority of our students will not attend in person but will work from home to complete any remaining evaluations asynchronously, or attend any drop in support sessions or conferences synchronously.
    • If students connect with their teachers in any way, they will be marked as present.  (ie., submits work, logs into the online classroom, sends an email, or responds to a Google form tracking attendance.  Our attendance secretaries will then enter “Excused – Learn from Home”.
    • If the student does not show any signs of engagement through synchronous or asynchronous activity, they should be marked as “Absent”
  • ACE students and students in other congregated Priority 1 Programs will attend school with regular programming.
